The Chevrolet Colorado has three engine options that deliver the kind of power you need for your daily trips:
• 2.5L 4-cylinder engine: 200 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque
• 3.6L V6 engine: 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque
• 2.8L Duramax® Turbo-Diesel engine: 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque

The Colorado can also achieve an EPA-estimated 20 city/30 highway MPG as well as tow up to 7,700 pounds.

Meanwhile, the most powerful engine in the Toyota Tacoma—the 3.5L V6 engine—can only deliver 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. Unfortunately, it only achieves an EPA-estimated 18 city/22 highway MPG and only tows up to 6,800 pounds.

    ENGINEERED TO HAUL

    You’ll find plenty of technology inside these trucks that makes towing a lot easier. In order to improve traction for towing, these vehicles offer available 4x4 systems that help keep you steady when you’re pulling serious cargo.

    However, in order to provide extra power and control while hauling cargo, the Chevy Colorado is designed with an available Tow/Haul Mode. Turn this on and your truck will configure its transmission to upshift and downshift based on making the most of your engine power. You’ll be able to haul much more easily when you’re using this feature.

    When you’re on the road, the Chevy Colorado also helps provide more control over your trailer with an available integrated trailer brake controller. This feature allows you to adjust the gain on your trailer brakes for better handling while you’re out on the highway.

      Both trucks have many available safety features to help keep everyone on board safe. They both offer Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert, and a Rear Vision Camera.

      Additionally, the 2020 Colorado comes standard with Teen Driver technology. This encourages safe driving habits by allowing you to set certain features while limiting others and providing you with an in-vehicle report card. With this system, you can set audible and visual warnings when your teen drives over a preselected speed. You can also set the audio to be muted until everyone is buckled in.

      Although the 2020 Tacoma has many impressive safety features, it doesn’t offer anything similar to the Teen Driver technology in any of its trim levels.
