       1. While the engine is running in Park or Neutral, take out the dipstick.

      2. Check the fluid’s consistency and color by dabbing your finger in the fluid on your dipstick. It should be pink and clear. If it is not or has a burnt smell to it, schedule an appointment to get your fluid changed.

      3. Next, check the level of the fluid by cleaning the dipstick with a lint-free and clean rag, reinserting it, and taking it back out.

      4. If your fluid reaches the Full line, you’re good to go. If not, add some until it does.

        Checking your transmission fluid’s levels and state moderately is smart to ensure everything is running smoothly. This means once a month or every 5,000 to 10,000 miles.
