What Do You Do When You Return a Leased Chevy Car?

There are a few steps to take in order to return your leased Chevy:

• Schedule the pre-return inspection. Before the return, your Chevy dealership will inspect the vehicle to check that it is in returnable condition and does not require any repairs.
• Schedule a return date with your Chevy dealer. In certain circumstances, it’s possible to return the vehicle to a different Chevy dealership than you leased it from, especially if you have moved. However, it’s best to do everything in your power to return the vehicle to the dealership you leased it from.
• Keep an eye out for your lease-end liability invoice. This has information about any balances still due that will have to be dealt with at the lease return.

    Do You Have to Clean a Leased Car Before Returning It?

    It is in your best interest to return the Chevy you leased in the same condition as you received it. That means cleaning out the car before the pre-inspection!

    You should:

    • Vacuum and wipe down the interior
    • Clean the exterior, from the windows to the wheels
    • Go the extra mile to eliminate stains and odors

    Another thing you want to clean—if applicable to your model—is the personal data stored on the infotainment system, including app data, passwords, navigation addresses, etc.

    Once the car is clean, all components—from the tires to the interior accessories—are the same as when they were purchased, and all your personal effects have been cleared out, it’s ready to be inspected.

      What Happens if My Leased Chevy Has Too Much Wear and Tear?

      Wear is normal when you drive a vehicle for an extended period of time—and Chevy knows it. However, wear and tear can go beyond the definition of “normal” and into “excess” territory.

      What does that look like? A few examples of excess wear listed in your Chevy lease return guide are:

      • Four or more dings on the exterior
      • Permanent stains on the interior
      • Cracked headlights
      • Mismatched tires

      If necessary, consider having the car repaired before the pre-inspection, so you can return it in peak condition.

        While your lease contract will lay out more details, general items to look out for include:

        • Amounts still due
        • Miscellaneous taxes and charges
        • Charges for excess wear
        • Charges for excess mileage
