Chevy has been a regular of the power-oriented car club, and the Traverse is its newest member. Under the hood, you’ll find a 3.6L V6 engine mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. This configuration produces 310 horsepower, which is prepared to help you cruise down the left lane or up and down winding hills.

Putting the engines in a side-by-side comparison, the Edge comes standard with a 2.0L EcoBoost® I-4 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission. It doesn’t quite measure up with only 250 horsepower, compared to the Traverse’s 310 horsepower. Drivers enjoy the 9-speed transmission in the Chevy Traverse as it provides a smoother driving experience and assists you with towing, which we will get into later.

    The Ford Edge SE comes with a 4.2-inch multimedia display mounted in the center of the dashboard. Some may find entertainment more convenient and easier to use in the Chevy Traverse L thanks to a 7-inch LCD touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay™ capability, which does not come standard in the Edge SE.

    These SUVs each have a spacious cabin, but the Chevy Traverse has up to 8-passenger seating while the Ford Edge comes with 5-passenger seating. The Traverse is ready to take you and your cargo anywhere as it has 98.20 cubic feet of space when the second and third rows are folded down.

    If you’re going on a weekend trip with the whole family, you’ll still have 23 cubic feet to load luggage or goods. The most cargo space you can have in the Edge is 73.4 cubic feet with the rear row stored away. That means you won’t have to ditch the family beach tent for your oversized game tote—you can bring both!

      The family camper or boat trailer never seemed so easy to haul. Both SUVs have a minimum towing capacity of 1,500 pounds. However, they differ greatly when it comes to their heavier towing capabilities.

      When properly equipped with the 3.6L V6 engine and an available factory-installed trailering package, the Chevy Traverse has a 5,000-pound maximum towing capacity. To compare, the Ford Edge doesn’t come close equipped with its available Class II tow package and a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.

      Additionally, you would have to choose an available engine upgrade for the Ford Edge if you wanted to have more than 1,500 pounds of towing power while every Traverse model is standard with the same engine and therefore ready to add Chevy’s trailering package.
