What Does the First Tee of Manhattan Stand For?

The First Tee of Manhattan is a youth development organization that works to build confidence and leadership in kids ages 5 to 17. They will learn the fine nuances of how to play golf while also exploring how they can maximize their potential.
This organization is run by a team of professionals and volunteers who will guide your child towards learning the ins and outs of golf. As they dedicate themselves to the game, children find that they begin to be more confident outside the course. Many children find that through the lessons they learn through this organization they become better students as well.

    How the Program Works

    Students attending sessions through The First Tee of Manhattan will be provided a detailed curriculum to help them master the game of golf. They will begin at the TARGET level at age five in which they learn the basics of golf as well as what kind of conduct is expected of them on the course.  The TARGET Level introduces participants to the game of golf and The First Tee Life Skills through activity based lessons with the intention to promote curiosity about the game through a safe and fun environment. 
    The level progression is TARGET, PLAYer, Par, Birdie, Eagle, Ace. As kids move up, they’ll advance to PLAYer level, then the Par level in which they’re introduced to the more social aspects of golf. At age 11 they’ll earn Birdie rank which will help them develop a goal-oriented mindset when it comes to their practice. 
    There are two additional levels after the Birdie Level. 
    • Eagle (ages 13 – 17): The Eagle level emphasizes resilience skills, conflict resolution and planning for the future.
    • Ace (ages 14 – 17): The highest program level of First Tee focuses on setting goals for golf, career and education, and giving back to the community.
    The central idea of this organization is to help players visualize their goals and make them a reality through practice and perseverance.
