Community Spotlight: Wonder Workshop 

As a Children’s Museum, Wonder Workshop is much more than just rooms full of your standard exhibits. It is a place where families can come and let their children explore their curiosity and thirst for learning in a fun and interactive way. Wonder Workshop also helps build positive social and recreational values within the community through a variety of activities that they host.

Since 1989, they have been a cornerstone in the community providing afterschool activities and interactive exhibits that let kids enjoy the thrill of discovering the world of science, technology, the outdoors, and a range of cultures.

Hooked on Clubs 

One of the many great programs they offer is their after-school program, Hooked on Clubs. Students in Kindergarten up to sixth grade can go from the classroom to enjoying all the fun activities Wonder Workshop plans on a weekly basis. 

- Monday: Your child can start the week off with some fun arts and crafts as they explore their artistic skills through drawing, pottery, and more!
- Tuesday: Children get to become their own chef learning how to make everything from pizza to salads.
- Wednesday: Let your kids jump in the lab and gain hands-on learning through science experiments that teach them valuable lessons within biology, physics, and more.
- Thursday: As the week comes to an end, students can come by Wonder Workshops and play games with their peers.

With their after-school program, your child will have a fun space to learn on top of their school studies and will make new friends outside of the classroom! They even have their Discovery Days, which lets your child come by when they have the day off school and go hiking, make art, perform experiments, play games, and much more.

    Summertime Fun 

    They also have various weeks throughout the summer where kids can get outdoors to learn and have fun with new friends! Their Think Big! Summer Camp offers various themes to each of their weeks that focuses on teaching your child a variety of great life values.

    At Outback Camp, kids get to enjoy the beauty and fun of nature. Here, they will get to hit the trails for a Walking Safari, learn the basics of camping, and even go on scavenger hunts. There is also plenty of physical activities they will get to enjoy at Outback Camp. Kids will get to scale their rock wall and even take a thrilling ride on their zip line!

      Bring the Classroom to Wonder Workshop 

      You can also coordinate with your child’s school to see if you can organize a field trip to Wonder Workshop. They can accommodate all types of activities, whether their class wants to enjoy a day hiking and exploring around Tuttle Creek Lake, learn about the history of the Underground Railroad in Kansas, or do arts and crafts within the museum.

      You can also host your child’s next birthday party at their Outback Camp. This lets them and their friends have birthday cake in their tree house, jump on the trampoline, hang out in the beach area, and climb the rock wall.
